Dusty Springfield was one of Britain’s most loved chanteuses, from her chart debut in 1963 with I Only Want To Be With You to her untimely passing in 1999. She had a succession of top ten hits throughout the 1960s, including I Just Don’t Know What To Do with Myself, You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY YOU LOVE ME by GIUSEPPE DONAGGIO,VITO PALLAVICINI,SIMON NAPIER-BELL,VICKI WICKHAM|and Son of a Preacher Man, and then again in the late 1980s with tracks such as Nothing Has Been Proved from the soundtrack to the film Scandal and her duet with the Pet Shop Boys, What Have I Done to Deserve This?. Acknowledged as one of the greatest female singers of all time, Dusty was awarded an OBE shortly before her death.

The song is an English version of Io Che No Vivo (Senza Te) IO CHE NON VIVO (SENZA TE) by GIUSEPPE DONAGGIO,VITO PALLAVICINI|, which Dusty heard when taking part in the Italian Song Festival in San Remo in 1965. It reached #1 in the UK charts and #4 in the US.
