This year marks what would have been the 80th birthday of one of the all-time greats of music, Ray Charles|.

The Kassner Music Group is extremely proud to represent a variety of songs recorded by Ray Charles|, including the unforgettable Hit The Road Jack HIT THE ROAD JACK by PERCY MAYFIELD|, and celebrate the outstanding work of The Ray Charles Foundation|. The group will be one of many contributors honouring Charles’ life in this week’s edition of Billboard, which will include a special feature on “The Ray Charles 80th Birthday Celebration” that will look at the lasting impact Ray had on today’s music and culture.

Born on 23 September 1930, Ray Charles became an undisputed legend over the course of an illustrious career as both a recording artist and a songwriter. His successes spanned over 50 years, starting with his first hit in 1949 as part of the Maxim Trio and continuing all the way through to his death in 2004. 17 Grammy® Awards, 3 Emmy® nominations, a Grammy® Lifetime Achievement Award and an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame amongst numerous other recognitions are indicative of the level of esteem that the music industry had for the genius of Ray Charles|.

Many notable events will be taking place in this anniversary year, including a re-launch of the website raycharles.com|, a special exhibit in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame| and even a commemorative US postage stamp.

Meanwhile, the legacy of Ray Charles| is carried on through The Ray Charles Foundation|, a charity he established and dedicated to providing support in the area of hearing disorders and the empowerment of young people through education.
