KASSNER GROUP STRIKES DEAL TO REPRESENT TITUS TURNER SONGS

The Kassner Music Group has finalised a sub-publishing agreement for the world ex. US with independent music publisher Titus Turner Songs Inc, which represents the majority of the back catalogue of highly respected R&B and soul singer, Titus Turner.
The deal came about as a result of an historical connection between the Kassner Music Group and the Turner-penned song Sticks and Stones STICKS AND STONES by TITUS TURNER|. The composition had once been part of the catalogue of Ray Charles|’ publishing company, Tangerine Music, which the Kassner Music Group first represented in the 70s and has done so again since 2008 through a deal with The Ray Charles Foundation|. Kassner Music CEO David Kassner said: “When we began looking after the Tangerine Music repertoire again, we were advised that Sticks and Stones STICKS AND STONES by TITUS TURNER|, which had been one of Ray’s early successes, was no longer part of it. We decided to track down the current owner and I soon found myself speaking to Titus’ son Tiberious. We were very pleased when Tiberious agreed to let us represent not only Sticks and Stones STICKS AND STONES by TITUS TURNER| but also the rest of his father’s catalogue that he controls.”
Titus Turner’s career spanned the 50s and 60s during which he enjoyed some success as a solo artist with compositions such as We Told You Not To Marry and Living in Misery LIVING IN MISERY by TITUS TURNER|, but he is perhaps most renowned for his songs that were recorded by other artists, the most famous of which were Leave My Kitten Alone, covered by The Beatles, Johnny Preston and Elvis Costello, and Sticks and Stones STICKS AND STONES by TITUS TURNER|, which was a hit for Ray Charles| in 1960.
