KILL IT KID UNLEASH “PRAY ON ME”

Kill It Kid| today make a return with the ferocious Pray On Me PRAY ON ME by CHRISTOPHER TURPIN,STEPHANIE WARD|, their first release since last year’s Ivy and Oak IVY AND OAK by CHRISTOPHER TURPIN| and the inaugural single from forthcoming album Feet Fall Heavy.
Pray On Me is yet another fine example of the astonishing vocal combination of Chris Turpin| and Stephanie Ward, underpinned by a menacing blues riff and opened explosively by a guttural exhortation by the Reverend J.H. Terrell, extracted from a 1920s Alan Lomax recording of a tent revival.
The track displays a darker, grittier sound than anything heard on debut album Kill It Kid| and should help dispel the notion that the band was part of the neo-folk movement that appeared around the time of that release. The departure of violinist Richard Jones has led to a firm change in Kill It Kid’s musical style, and seen them fully embrace the blues genre. Fans of the band can expect the rest of the songs on the album anticipated in July to adopt the same path.
The single follows the band’s completion of an 18-date British tour and a series of successful appearances at US music conference and festival South by Southwest. Further live sets and festival performances can be expected throughout the spring and summer.
Pray On Me is released by One Little Indian and is available today at iTunes|, Amazon.co.uk|, play.com| and selected record shops.
