The Kinks are one of the most significant British groups of all time, with the sound they created impacting on multiple aspects of popular music. Breakthrough track You Really Got Me and its follow up All Day and All of the Night were largely regarded as providing the blueprint for the entire hard rock genre, later release See My Friends with its Indian musical influences was one of the first examples of attempts to fuse music from the subcontinent with traditional Western sounds and the list goes on.
