Sue Denim and Dee Plume met while at Liverpool University and began a songwriting collaboration that is still flourishing. Their songs combine girl-empowering polemic and explosive electro grooves to startling effect, with a universal appeal that has seen their music used in territories as diverse as the US, France and South East Asia. The girls signed exclusive publishing agreements with the Kassner group in 2005 and that relationship continues today.

Robots in Disguise

Sue and Dee perform their music as the lead vocalists and guitarists of electropunk girl band Robots in Disguise. The band has attracted a devoted international fanbase through Sue and Dee’s mix of intelligent lyrics and exciting dance beats. Their releases have received much critical acclaim, with particular attention given to the strength of each album’s songs. The Sunday Times, for example, commented on the “cunningly interwoven call-and-response vocals that add extra hookiness to their hooks” on third album We’re In The Music Biz.

One-stop licensing

Kassner Group company President Records| controls the master rights to all albums released by Robots in Disguise, consisting of their self-titled debut, follow-up Get RID! and 2008’s We’re In the Music Biz. As such, we are able to clear both the publishing and recordings for any of Sue and Dee’s songs recorded by the band. Tracks recently licensed include floor-fillers Turn It Up TURN IT UP by DELIA GAITSKELL,SUZANNE POWELL| and The DJ’s Got A Gun THE DJ'S GOT A GUN by DELIA GAITSKELL,SUZANNE POWELL| and the bubbly pop of La Nuit LA NUIT by DELIA GAITSKELL,SUZANNE POWELL| and Mirror, Mirror MIRROR MIRROR by DELIA GAITSKELL,SUZANNE POWELL|.

Les Chevaliers du Ciel and Sue and the Unicorn

In recent years, while continuing to focus on her partnership with Dee, Sue has also pursued solo writing projects. In 2005, she collaborated with Chris Corner (formerly of The Sneaker Pimps) and their creations Gonna Wanna GONNA WANNA by SUZANNE POWELL,CHRIS CORNER|, Girl Talk GIRL TALK by SUZANNE POWELL,CHRIS CORNER| and You’re the Conversation (I’m The Game) YOU'RE THE CONVERSATION (I'M THE GAME) by SUZANNE POWELL,CHRIS CORNER| appeared on the soundtrack of the movie Les Chevaliers du Ciel. Currently she is composing tracks for her acoustic side-project Sue and the Unicorn.
